Sara Trillo is an East Kent-based artist whose sculptural practice uncovers hidden histories through materials, walking and place-based research. For Folkestone Triennial 2025: How Lies the Land?, she presents Urn Field—a group of chalk cob sculptures inspired by ancient burial vessels and local wild plants. Scattered across East Cliff, each form echoes fragments of urns and flora once used for food, healing and ritual. Trillo’s work draws deeply on landscape and memory, using natural materials and archaic techniques to honour past lives and ecological rhythms. Over time, the sculptures will erode, quietly returning to the land they came from.
