After nearly a decade of anticipation, Brad Scoggins finally traded his magazine-featured 4Runner for a turnkey masterpiece: the Whiskey Digger [03:16]. This build is a masterclass in long-term reliability and high-performance trail riding. At its heart lies a Mast Motorsports 416 engine, selected for its forged rotating assembly and ready-to-run dyno-tuned reliability [05:12]. To handle that power, we equipped the rig with a rock-solid PTC Turbo 400 transmission and an Atlas transfer case—a choice made for both its legendary durability and the peace of mind that comes with a company that will be around for decades [06:27]. From the Radflo shocks tuned for 7 inches of up-travel [11:42] to the custom 14-bolt axles with Magnum knuckles [09:31], every decision was made to ensure that a trip to Moab is about the trails, not the repairs. ![Projects in the Shop Update at Wide Open Design
Currently, weve got quite a few cool projects going on in the shop. We are fortunate to be able to work on a whole spectrum of builds from Jeeps to Buggies. Check out this video to get a glimpse into what weve got going on.
The Moab to Mexico Jeep LJ [01:17]: This custom LJ is built on our LJ chassis with an Aqualu aluminum tub and features a raised-and-rolled flare design for maximum up-travel [03:10]. Outfitted with Crane 14-bolt axles, Radflo 3-inch bypasses, and a custom-actuated light bar [02:46], this rig is designed to pre-run for desert race teams or dominate Moabs technical rock sections.
The 50-Inch Mega Rock Bouncer [07:55]: This Rock Bouncer X chassis features massive 50 tires on 2.5-ton Rockwell axles [09:05]. Despite the giant tires, we’ve maintained a low center of gravity with only a 24-inch belly height [09:47], ensuring it can crawl through big rock boulder fields with ease.
The CJ-7 Update [13:56]: We are currently giving a long-term customers CJ-7 a modern foundation without losing its original lines [15:04]. By mounting his existing RamJet 350 and Dana 60/70 axles onto one of our modern chassis, we are reusing the components he already knows and loves.

![Interview with Richard McIntosh, Owner of the Urban Rebel Rock Bouncer | Wide Open Design
After a full day of wheeling at Adventure Off Road Park, Adam sat down with Richard McIntosh to talk about the Urban Rebel Rock Bouncer, the build process behind it, and what it was like seeing the buggy fully completed for the first time. Richard came into the off-road world from a background filled with Ferraris and Porsches. So when he decided to build an off-road buggy, he wasn’t looking for something average.
The Urban Rebel was built around:
* 700+ horsepower Mast Motorsports V8
* Turbo 400 transmission
* Crane 14-Bolt axles
* Crane Axle Magnum Knuckles
* race-proven drivetrain components
* custom metalwork and fabrication details
In this interview we discuss:
* the build process
* selecting components
* collaboration with the WOD team
* first impressions on the trail
* suspension performance
* future plans for the buggy
* and what makes a true high-end custom off-road build
This one turned out absolutely incredible and it was awesome hearing Richard’s thoughts after finally getting seat time in the buggy. Read more build specs and build photos: https://wideopendesign.com/blogs/custom-builds/the-urban-rebel-a-masterclass-in-collaboration
