After a full day of wheeling at Adventure Off Road Park, Adam sat down with Richard McIntosh to talk about the Urban Rebel Rock Bouncer, the build process behind it, and what it was like seeing the buggy fully completed for the first time. Richard came into the off-road world from a background filled with Ferraris and Porsches. So when he decided to build an off-road buggy, he wasn’t looking for something average.
The Urban Rebel was built around:
* 700+ horsepower Mast Motorsports V8
* Turbo 400 transmission
* Crane 14-Bolt axles
* Crane Axle Magnum Knuckles
* race-proven drivetrain components
* custom metalwork and fabrication details
In this interview we discuss:
* the build process
* selecting components
* collaboration with the WOD team
* first impressions on the trail
* suspension performance
* future plans for the buggy
* and what makes a true high-end custom off-road build
This one turned out absolutely incredible and it was awesome hearing Richard’s thoughts after finally getting seat time in the buggy. Read more build specs and build photos: wideopendesign.com/blogs/custom-builds/the-urban-rebel-a-masterclass-in-collaboration

![Heavy-Duty Carrier Bearing Shaft Install & Walkthrough | Wide Open Design
Carrier bearings can completely solve difficult drivetrain packaging problems — but only if they’re installed correctly. In this video, Adam walks through the full installation process for the Wide Open Design Heavy Duty Carrier Bearing Shaft Kit and explains:
• 1350 / 1410 / 1480 setups
• string line alignment
• trimming chassis mounts
• tack welding
• dial indicator setup
• shaft runout
• bearing protection during welding
• and final chassis installation
One of the biggest keys to a smooth-running drivetrain is getting the shaft dialed in to less than .007” runout — and Adam shows exactly how to do it step-by-step.

A carrier bearing is often the only way to route power around unmovable chassis components, but if it isn’t perfectly aligned, you’re looking at vibration and premature failure. In this guide, we walk you through the professional installation of the Wide Open Design Heavy Duty Carrier Bearing Kit. We cover everything from setting your initial yoke distances and trimming the chassis mounts [02:13] to using a string line for proper orientation [03:51]. The secret to a vibration-free build is in the dialing: we demonstrate how to use a dial indicator to achieve less than .007 of runout [07:19]. Finally, we explain the critical step of pressing out the bearings before final welding to protect the internal races from heat damage [08:16], ensuring your drivetrain is as smooth as it is strong.
