Sometimes a portrait doesn't need a complete redraw.
It just needs a few small fixes.
This portrait was created by Jonathan, one of my students, and he already did a lot of things right. But by adjusting the shoulders, improving the flow of the hair, adding more structure, and pushing the facial expression a little further, we were able to make the character feel much more alive.
One of the biggest mistakes artists make is focusing only on the face. In reality, things like the neck, shoulders, hair, and silhouette have a huge impact on how a portrait feels.
