Free Face Drawing Course π lpart.me/faces
Shading faces doesnβt have to be complicated.
Most artists understand how to shade simple forms like spheres or cylinders, but once itβs time to shade a face, everything suddenly feels confusing. The key is remembering that the head is still just a combination of simple 3D shapes.
By simplifying the head into basic forms and clear planes, it becomes much easier to see which areas are in light, which fall into shadow, and how values transition across the surface. Instead of guessing, you can shade logically by understanding the planes that make up the face.
Once this way of thinking clicks, you can apply it to any head, any style, and any lighting scenario with much more confidence.
Think in planes first, then add complexity βοΈπ¨
