My Point of View
In business, first impressions and successful personal branding are not accidental outcomes.
Let's be intentional about the image, energy and credibility we bring into the room. People are immediately forming a view about our professionalism, intelligence, judgement and competence.
🎩 Know the Rule to Break the Rule
28. Q: What’s the rule for a mirror shine for shoes in men’s style?
A Mirror Shine is incredible, but it takes a serious amount of time and effort. You don’t need to go to that extreme and you can get to a very acceptable high shine. Scuffed, dirty, down-at-heel or un-shined shoes are not acceptable. Once you have created a mirror shine and you scuff your shoe or some nincompoop steps on your toe, that mirror shine is ruined, and you will feel instantly suicidal and possibly even homicidal.
👔 The 4 Vs of Executive Presence:
Visual - Do I look prepared, credible and appropriate for the situation?
Vocal - Does my voice tone sound calm and confident?
Verbal - Are my comments clear, concise and beneficial?
Value - Am I making a useful difference to the people and business around me?
🎯 Today’s Executive Presence Intention
Today’s meetings:
Podcast interview with Kayo Ito, CEO of NTT Limited Japan, Otemachi
Tokyo Rotary Club meeting, Hibiya
The impression I wanted to create: I need to look good on camera for the podcast.
The Impression Construction Elements

Shirt: Hardy Amies London 1946 white shirt with English Cuffs. Abbeyhorn Holme 1749 horn collars stays from Kirby Allison Dallas 2007.
Tie: Azabu Tailor Osaka 1918 blue and burgundy alternating stripes of grenadine and Shantung silk in a Four-In-Hand knot.
Cufflinks: Mon Art Firenze cufflinks.
Pocket Square: Azabu Tailor 1918 linen rust and dark blue pocketsquare in a reverse puff. Stabiliser from Kuska Fabrics Kyoto 1936.
Watch: Vintage 37mm rectangular steel case Longines Saint-Imier 1832 S30 EFCo which has a black face on the dial and a steel strap.
Fragrance: Quercus Eau de Cologne Penhaligon’s London 1870
👞 High Shine Shoes: The high shine black Derby shoes were from Pollini San Mauro Pascoli 1953 with some slight brogueing on the medallion.
✨ Today’s Featured Detail: The navy and burgundy tie creates a great lift to the light grey suit
