Team Rubicon’s Vice President of Operations, Jeff Byard, provides an in-depth update on our ongoing response to Hurricane Helene from Asheville, North Carolina.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Asheville is facing a critical water shortage affecting thousands of residents. Team Rubicon is working closely with the city to establish additional points of distribution, providing bulk water to those in need. This life-sustaining mission ensures that the community has access to essential resources during this challenging time.
Our route clearance team has arrived and will be collaborating with the City of Asheville’s Public Works Department to clear roads and remove debris. This not only restores vital access routes but also allows city crews to take necessary downtime to check on their families and recharge.
“By clearing roads, we’re allowing some of their crews to take downtime, check on their folks, and just decompress a minute.”
But our efforts extend beyond Asheville. Team Rubicon is actively responding across multiple states impacted by Hurricane Helene:
• Florida: Continuing missions with expanded operations to assist more disaster survivors, including muck-outs for thousands of flooded homes.
• Georgia: Standing up operations focused on expedited home repairs and ongoing debris removal.
• Tennessee: Launching operations in eastern Tennessee to address significant, yet underreported, needs.
• South Carolina: Conducting route clearance and initiating expedited home repairs in communities still facing active response phases due to water issues.
Our veteran-led teams are committed to filling gaps and supporting local efforts wherever we’re needed. We believe that disaster response is a collective effort, and we’re dedicated to doing our part across all affected regions.
