Playing a round of Frontline, Final Fantasy XIV's large scale 72 player PVP mode, on Nintendo Switch 2.
Captured on Nintendo Switch 2.
Frontline is FFXIV's big three-way PVP brawl, pitting three alliances of 24 players each against one another across a huge open battlefield, competing to capture objectives and rack up knockouts while a full 72 players fight it out at once. It is some of the most chaotic and demanding content in the entire game, making it a fascinating thing to play on the Switch 2 version.
One thing worth pointing out is that the black screen loading bug has not been patched yet at the time of recording, and I have deliberately left it in this video. In Frontline, players are revived at a Grand Company landing platform after being KO'd, with the screen fading to black during that process, which is exactly the kind of situation the bug affects. Leaving it in lets you see for yourself what the revive time is currently like in Frontline on Switch 2, which is useful context for anyone considering jumping into PVP before the fix arrives. Square Enix has confirmed a fix is in testing, so this should improve in a future update.
Whether you are an FFXIV player curious about how Frontline runs on Switch 2, wondering how the loading bug affects PVP respawns, or simply here for some large scale PVP action, this video gives you a real look. Subscribe for more FFXIV Switch 2 content.
