Some very difficult foes await the group as they head deeper into the Lunar Depths.

The bosses we face in these next few segments are completely optional, and you can skip them if you wish. They are quite difficult to defeat, but if you can manage it you will get some nice rewards.

The first boss we run into is Omega. I always struggle the most with this boss, and this time is no exception. Omega's attacks consist of Arm which will half a single party member's HP but can't outright kill them but it also inflicts confusion, Black Hole which will remove all buffs on your party, Thermal Rays which you should be acquainted with by now, Maelstrom which will reduce HP to single digits, and Surge Cannon which will inflict some heavy damage on the party and constantly drain HP afterwords. His physical attack will also deal nearly 4000 damage, and it also has an ability called Omeguard which will cause any attack to deal 1 damage for two hits before it's broken. As if that wasn't enough it will also begin the fight by casting reflect on itself and keep it on when it wears off and it is hit with magic. Even worse, when Omega attacks it will usually combo two attacks one after another, which can spell out a wipe for your team if it decides to cast Maelstrom right after Surge Cannon. Finally, the icing on the cake; if you get it down to low health it will have a chance to self destruct and wipe your entire team with it.

So....yeah, don't go into this fight unprepared since the odds are stacked heavily against you...even if you're levels are maxed out you can still get wasted pretty easily in this battle.

Edge is highly recommended for this fight, and also Gekkou as well as their throw ability will really shine in this fight. Stock up on shurikens on Depths B1 before this fight as well.
The throw skill bypasses all defenses, so even if Omega has Omeguard up throw will still deal some really good damage, as well as help bring Omeguard down for everyone else.

A black mage with Meteor is also highly recommended and will be your major damage dealer since it can't be reflected. Just be sure Omeguard isn't up when it's cast otherwise it's a waste of MP.

Other recommendations for this battle are: Unequip any Holy based equipment from your melee attackers, and never cast Holy on the boss since it will absorb it.
If Meteor isn't available, the boss is also weak against Thundaga, so you can cast reflect on one of your party members and bounce the spell to the boss. Summons are also viable since they can't be reflected either, however I've only seen Leviathan deal any damage to the boss, most the others I tried did no damage (even with Rydia decked out with full magic gear).

The only buff you should worry about in this fight is casting Haste on your White Mage to help keep healing steady. Also if you get unlucky and are hit with the Surge Cannon/Maelstrom combo have any White Magic user cast Cure before using any higher level cure spell. Cure has the least charge time, and while the healing is minimal it'll give you more time to get a better healing spell off.

This is no easy fight, and it's one of endurance (this fight alone takes me 15+ minutes), so keep your attacks going and keep your health high, and hope you get the blessings of good RNG.

Once you finally manage to take Omega Down you'll be rewarded with the Hero Shield, which is second only to the Adamantite Shield I believe.

The next boss we face off against should be familiar. Gilgamesh from FFV makes an appearance to give us a challenge. Compared to Omega, though, he is quite a pushover, still don't let your guard down as he can still deal some decent damage.

Most of his attacks are physical, so protect and/or Blink will come in handy. He will also use Bad Breath on you, but with the equipment we have available now it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Once you get his health down half-way he will buff himself up with Haste, Shell, and Protect, then use Jump to deal some heavy damage to one party member. Just recast slow on him and finish him off.

Once he goes down we get a save area and a scene with Kain and Ceodore where we obtain the Double Jump band.

We have some more optional bosses to take care of, but thanks to Omega they will have to wait until the next segment.
