Fender's Vintera III Early '60s Stratocaster takes all of the vintage features from those uber-cool originals and pops them into a modern build with a couple of welcome extras like the ubiquitous 5-way switch and a tone control for the bridge pickup. But aside from those little essentials, the Vintera III is a truly vintage ride all the way. We're talking about a laminated rosewood board on a vintage 'C' shaped maple neck with vintage-tall frets on a 7.25" radius. A bone nut, vintage-style tuners and the classic 6-Saddle Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo round out the hardware. Then there are the pickups. They call them "Vintage-Style Early '60s Single-Coil Strat" pickups. Having tried a LOT of Strat-style pickups in my time (and most of them documented here on Youtube) I can attest that these are no slouches and are up there with the best. In fact, the whole guitar is a very fine build and will suit pros and indulgent novices alike. I might have to stretch for one myself, I think. Great work, Fender. Classy.
