Robert Keeley and his band of merry tonesmiths (did I just invent a word?) have seen fit to grace us with their version of the great golden horsie, otherwise known as the Klon Centaur. However the Keeley version, known as the Manis Overdrive, offers several enhancements that are sure to attract all that love and covet Bill Finnegan's prized creation. First up, we get a choice of Germanium diodes (original) or the slightly more saturated and compressed Germanium transistor. This second choice goes a long way to taming the mid-hump that people who don't like the original have a gripe with. Then there's the choice of stock or bass+ settings. The latter offers a 3dB bump one octave below the original's cutoff frequency thus restoring a little bottom end and thickening up tones generated by single coil pickups, for example. But wait, there's more! With a press of the footswitch you can easily flip between true or buffered bypass. And, you can run this pedal at 9-18V without fear of nuking it. So you get a spot-on gold Centaur tone plus the mods plus the utility enhancements. 'Manis' means 'sweet' in Indonesian, I believe. And that's what this pedal is: sweet as, bro!

![CRAFTROS: SPIRITUS FUZZ - No-Chat HSS Jamcut Demo
https://craftros.com/en/products/spiritus
This is a supplementary jam-only demo played with a HSS guitar. The original Strat-based demo can be seen at https://youtu.be/pP6s8EyDNb0
When I moved house a year or so ago and then got stuck into extensive renovations in this new place, a bunch of stuff that was already overdue for demonstration got shelved and lost in the chaos, much of which Im just starting to unearth now. So firstly an apology to those builders who got left by the wayside but I am going to to get through the lot, albeit a little (or a lot) late. This is the Spiritus Fuzz by Japanese company, Craftros. I dont know much about it or them except that its built and presented way above normal standards and it sounds great - kind of a mix between a fuzz face and muff, I guess.
Its probably better described by the guys who built it so heres the blurb from the website:
This fuzz pedal has a stable usability with an outstanding overdrive.
Its sharpness has a moderate mellowness, and it is balanced with a broad coverage, from playing the guitar as the main focus, to band ensembles.
For the tone control in the 12 o’clock position, the active EQ is flat, and with some excellent adjustment to the circuit, we concentrated on intuitively drawing out the wanted sound while making use of the entire rotational range.
Spiritus provide trackability for the guitar volume and also a one knob EQ that will not fail no matter what position it is in so it won’t get too muffled even when turned down, and it won’t sound weak even with turned up settings.
Elaborate circuit design and high quality parts produce low noise.
