For many people, India is a land of spiritual longing. A civilisation thousands of years old, mythical and mysterious, infinitely rich in ancient traditions, architecture, culture and religion. Fascinating culture and great landscapes that are unparalleled. For months, Simon Busch, Alexander Sass and their team travelled through the north of the subcontinent to discover the hidden essence of this huge country.

The film unfolds a panorama of India's past and present. It shows the most important cities and temples and follows the traces of the different religions that also shape today's India. Some of the world's greatest achievements in architecture, art and poetry can be traced back to them.
At the same time, the film also shows the everyday life of the people in India. In Varanasi, the holiest city of the Hindus, they burn their dead; at the Kumbh Mela, the largest religious festival in the world, thirty-five million pilgrims gather in a confined space to bathe in the waters of the Ganges River.
The Taj Mahal, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the Amber fort, the Fortress of Mehrangarh and the city Jodhpur can be seen among other things in the movie. These are overwhelming, highly emotional images that have never been seen before.
