For centuries, the coastline lay forgotten and cut off from the world. It was only when the "Amalfitana", a road between sea and sky that was built in 1857, that the region's isolation came to an end. The Amalfi Coast quickly became famous: Painters, poets and writers from all over Europe settled in Ravello or Positano and established the reputation from which the coast still draws today. Giulio Cantarella has been driving buses on the Amalfitana for 20 years.
UNESCO has been protecting the world's most valuable natural and cultural monuments as the "Heritage of Humanity" since 1972. The television series “Treasures of the World” tells of these places in impressive images.
