#75. Q: What’s the rule for half-socks in men’s style?
I saw a “cocktail” outfit on video and it looked good except that the matching socks with the loafers were half-socks, so that the feet would be visible for summer. The issue was the outfit had a blazer, shirt and tie and that combination needed more formality. Dressed like that with no socks, it won’t be a work event, so there is some flexibility. A better choice would have been no jacket, or a soft linen jacket, no tie, a linen shirt and smart trousers. That would have worked in a casual setting. So always wear full over the calf socks rather than half socks, if you are going to add a blazer and tie. In business always wear over the calf socks.

I wanted to look very professional and celebratory for Nakashima san's award ceremony, hence the pink tie.

Tie: Solid pink tie from T.M. Lewin London 1898
Socks: Navy over the calf socks

Intention outcomes: There were a lot of senior business leaders at the ceremony and I was able to hold my own in that crush.
