My Point of View
In business, first impressions and successful personal branding are not accidental.
Be intentional about the image, energy and credibility we bring into the room. People are immediately forming a view about our professionalism, judgement and likely value.
🎩 Know the Rule to Break the Rule
13. Q: What’s the rule for men’s watches?
Wear a proper watch and strap with a business suit. Sports watches, Apple watches etc., don't match the image of a business professional. I see some businessmen wearing a traditional dress watch on one wrist and an Apple watch on the other to get the best of both worlds. I think this may be a bit too much but it is a better idea than just wearing an Apple watch.
👔 The 4 Vs of Executive Presence:
Visual - Do I look prepared, credible and appropriate for the situation?
Vocal - Does my voice tone sound calm and confident?
Verbal - Are my comments clear, concise and beneficial?
Value - Am I making a useful difference to the people and business around me?
🎯 Today’s Executive Presence Intention
Today’s meetings: Podcast interview with Jeremy Laughlin, Vice President of Sales for Momentum Worldwide Movers Japan in Uguisudanicho for his podcast Momentum's Moving Japan.
Lunch at the Tokyo American Club, Azabudai
Meeting in Shiba with a client to follow up on the Leadership Training we provided for his Middle Managers.
The impression I wanted to create: I wanted to look good on camera for the podcast interview
The Impression Construction Elements

Tie: Barneys New York 1923 light blue silk tie in a Windsor knot.
Cufflinks: Light blue cufflinks
Pocket Square: Diroma London 1980 light blue and white pocketsquare in a reverse puff. Stabiliser from Kuska Fabrics Kyoto 1936.
Watch: Vintage 37mm rectangular steel case Longines Saint-Imier 1832 S30 EFCo which has a black face on the dial and a steel strap.

👞 High Shine Shoes: The high shine shoes were dark brown, Vergano calf, Camina Mallorca 1954, toe cap Oxfords with a swan neck design, the Rain last, JR Redenbach soles.
✨ Today’s Featured Detail: The dark brown Carmina Oxfords go well with the light grey suit colour.
One Rule to Remember: Don't wear dark brown or burgundy or tan shoes with a navy suit. Grey suits work much better and wear black shoes with navy.
