This problem does not start on Google, and it doesn’t end with warning consumers.
It starts — and ends — with the Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
In this video, I break down the story from a real locksmith’s point of view, explaining:
Why enforcement-based fines and media warnings don’t stop scammers
How current licensing settings allow untrained operators to legally trade
Why the removal of trade qualifications created the perfect environment for scams
What practical changes would actually protect the public
How locksmiths and consumers can identify scam operators before damage is done
I also analyse key parts of the 7NEWS report and explain what was missed, misunderstood, or oversimplified — including how genuine trade-qualified locksmiths are being damaged by the current system.
This video isn’t about defending bad operators — it’s about fixing the system that lets them exist in the first place.
