Today we explore the beautiful, hidden “Sunken Garden” park near Lava Hot Springs — a peaceful little park that many visitors completely miss while visiting the famous hot springs about 100 yards away from the entrance (because you have to walk up the hill, maybe?).

Located just east of downtown, this quiet garden was a surprising hidden gem filled with a unique pathway, flowers, trees, and a calm atmosphere away from the crowds - suprisingly.

Most people probably walk right past this area without realizing it’s there, but we decided to stop and explore it — and we’re glad we did.

Sometimes the best parts of traveling are the unexpected places you discover along the way.
