In this Griptape experiments video, Roy Yang demonstrates an end-to-end AI image-to-3D workflow designed to generate, convert, and relight high-quality environment assets.
The process begins in Nuke by using a RotoPaint node to block out the shape and position of a new background rock. Moving over to Griptape, Roy uses an agent schema to construct a targeted prompt, which the Nano Banana model uses to generate 2D concept options based on the Nuke masking data. Once an option is chosen, the Image Bash node masks out the rock and passes the transparent file into the Tripo Image to 3D node to generate a high-poly 3D geometry (.glb) with texture PBR controls.
Watch how to bridge the workflow by using Blender to export the .glb into an Alembic file, which is then imported back into a 2.5D Nuke setup via a GeoImport node. Finally, see how to map the textures using GeoProject, position the asset with GeoTransform, and utilize Nuke 17's new lighting handles to create a 3-point lighting rig to seamlessly relight the geometry.
