About a month and a half ago, I chopped down a large Holly bush that was more like a tree. It yielded about a 5-inch trunk that I sliced into small boards on my 14" band saw.

The resulting lumber was much, and I wasn't sure I could actually make anything out of it besides some small boxes, so I decided to conduct an experiment: what happens to green lumber if I take no precautions drying it?

The results are quite dramatic, in my opinion. Very little usable lumber came out of it; cracks appeared everywhere; the boards twisted drastically.

To be honest, I didn't imagine it would twist and crack this much. Now, in the future, I know to make sure to take proper measures to limit these effects.
