Medeltidsveckan, the Medieval Week, is the biggest Medieval festival in Sweden and all of the Nordics. Every year 40 000 people gather on the island of Gotland, to celebrate in the Medieval town of Visby. And I decided to explore everything at the festival during a full week.

This video contains a lot of practical information about what you can find at the Medieval Week, as well as interviews with knights and parrot-owners, random visitors and performers. But most of all I'm trying to show you the feeling of attending the festival.
The Medieval Week has been running for more than 40 years, and it's a much beloved event in Sweden. It's of course evolved over the years, and this year I'm splitting my time pretty much equally between the official program and the unofficial program. The Unofficial Medieval Week (Inofficiella Medeltidsveckan) contains a lot of weird and wonderful activities - and I'm showing a lot of them in this video. Such as the Barbarbrottning event, or Brollen, or Likörslaget, and much much more.
Music is also a main point of the festival, so I'm covering everything from Medieval renditions of game music, to Medieval hard rock, to troubadours and bards offering beautiful notes to passer-bys. Oh, and let's not forget about all the jesters and the fire shows and all kinds of other performers.
All in all, this is week full of things to see and do. There's no way to experience everything at Medeltidsveckan - so you basically have no choice but to return multiple times!
