Even Bare Threads. CroTatting #FairyLacefromElena

Even bare threads require careful control, especially when several rings need to be spaced evenly. A simple picot gauge makes it much easier to keep the distance consistent and give the finished lace a neat, balanced appearance.

Cro-tatting has an interesting way of securing the ring before moving on to the next section. The ball is passed through the loop on the hook, and the loop is then tightened into a knot. This locks the ring in place so it can no longer loosen while the bare thread and the next ring are being worked.

I particularly like techniques like this because a small structural detail can make the whole process more comfortable and reliable.

This is the third version of the Even Bare Threads construction in my collection, following shuttle tatting and needle tatting. Each method has its own little technical solution, while the purpose remains the same: controlled, even spacing between the rings.
