Europe has been baking in its third heatwave of the summer with deadly wildfires sparked by the extreme heat, dry ground and strong winds.
At least a dozen people have been killed in one of Spain’s deadliest blazes, while in France, wildfires have burned a record area in an historic forest near Paris.
Scientists say climate change is creating conditions that allow fires to spread faster. But humans are being blamed for starting some of them. Around 60 people have been arrested in France on suspicion of starting wildfires since the beginning of summer.
With temperatures expected to climb further in the years ahead, wildfires are set to become more frequent and intense across Europe.
So what can we do to manage the increasing risk?
