The Last Adventurer | Eureka Mine & Aguereberry Point: historic ruins and great views in Death Valley! @TheLastAdventurer | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 10 hours ago.
While Death Valley has many ghost towns, and many great views, the best area that combines all of the above is the Harrisburg ghost town, the ruins of the Eureka Mine and Cashier Mill, and Aguereberry Point. Located in the Panamint Mountains, one needs to do some light off-roading, and light hiking to get to these destinations. After a short two mile drive, one can see the ruins of Harrisburg (founded 1945); and with a little hiking, can explore Pete Aguereberry's house, the Eureka Mine, and the ruins of the Cashier Mill. Of note, Pete Aguereberry took over $175,000.00 in gold from the mine over a forty year period - mostly on his own! For those willing to adventure further, the dirt road winds up to Aguereberry Point, which has expansive views of the valley below from 6,400 feet elevation. As with any Death Valley adventure, parties attempting this should have the proper equipment, and timing - but for those that do, this is a great one-day adventure.
