Hey, everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at this roof rack on our 2023 Kia Telluride. This is going to be the Malone AirFlow2 roof rack, which is the roof rack I recommend when someone's looking for something super easy, entry level, they just need to get to their kayaks or their roof box really quick from one point to another, and that's where the AirFlows come in. The AirFlow2 is available in different sizes and colors. What we have here today is the 58-inch long version in black, but this is also available in silver. Depending on what kind of color scheme you have on your Telluride, you can pick which one to match. This does give you a little bit of overhang.
So overhang is measured from the tower to right before the end cap, and I see mine as 2 3/4 inches measurement there. That's going to be a little bit of overhang, helpful if you want to install accessories a little bit further out, you have that space. But at the same time, it's not too much overhang where this sits really far and is not as sleek. This fits around the raised rails of your Telluride. So you have a clamp in the back as well as a clamp in the front.
Now noting for the front, the Telluride does have a little bit of a divot there towards the end, and this does fit around with the divots. But it's very important to keep this very tightened down to make sure it stays in the divot and provides that clamp to the rails. That way you have a sturdy and stable roof rack and then you can still carry your heavier things. The perks of that raised rail on the Telluride is you can actually put this wherever you want on that rail. Where we have set right now is actually per my recommendation.
When you measure center to center, this sits at 31-inches apart. And that can be very versatile for most types of accessories. Your roof boxes, your kayaks, your ski and snowboard carriers. But if you are carrying something maybe especially long or you have a very specific measurement you need to be at, you can adjust it. Now, just for funzies, the maximum distance you can bring this apart is going to be about 31 plus 12 inches, so 43 inches, and that's going to be center to center, just for those who may be carrying those especially longer items.
There's also your roof height clearances. That's a distance from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar. And I have it just at another, maybe three inches, depending where on your roof you're going to measure. Now that's going to be on the lower, but still works for a lot of different clamps set. So if you have many large U-bolts and wingnuts may not fit as well, but for most of your modern clamps, that will be fine. Next thing is going to be the height of your cargo. And I measure top of the roof to top of the bar, around four inches, maybe 4 1/4, and that's going to be where your accessory sits. So imagine you have skis with tall bindings. You want to make sure those bindings clear your roof and you're not scratching it up. If not, you can then get some extra accessories that give you that extra height, like we carry ski and snowboard carriers, that give you a lift and then you're not worried about anything scratching up your roof. There's also the option of securing your gear to the channel. So if you flip down the end of the end cap, there's this track here that you can mount items into and then you're not worried about their clamping distance, whatsoever. Another thing you can see over here is the lock. So all four towers are locked, and you do get two keys and they're keyed alike. So unlocking this, you can bring this out, which also reveals the Allen key, or the tool used to tighten or loosen that tower. This is super helpful because I always recommend, especially on super long road trips, just double-checking the tightness of your clamps over time. You want to make sure that the road movement hasn't loosened them and that they're always at their most secure as you are driving around. For those just getting into adventures and you have to bring around gear like kayaks or bike racks or that random road trip where you need to bring a roof box, I always recommend the Malone AirFlow2s first.
