Rebuilt into a Pioneering AC Electric from the Great Western Gas Turbine 18100 (see previous video), this fascinating loco went on to have a second life for trialling a section of overhead wires early in the West Coast Mainline Electrification Program.
This 2 part video features the most excellent exclusive models by Rails of Sheffield.
Part 1 covers the loco in its Gas Turbine form as 18100 on the Western Region, alongside Hall and Castle Class steam locomotives.
Part 2 looks at the loco on trial on the Midland Region after conversion to an AC Electric. Steam was still supreme at this time so look out for Black 5's and 9F's.
