Winner of the 2025 European Digital Connectivity Award for Excellence and Innovation in Gigabit-Ready Infrastructure, Hola 5G Oulu showcases one of Europe’s first private 5G standalone (SA) networks operating in a live hospital environment. The project, implemented by Oulu University Hospital together with Boldyn Networks, WICOAR Technologies, Pohde and the University of Oulu, introduces smart wearable technologies that streamline workflows and allow doctors and nurses to focus more on patient care and less on screens.
Deployed without disrupting existing systems, the network provides ultra-reliable, low-latency connectivity for critical hospital operations and real-time data access, serving as a replicable model for smart healthcare facilities across Europe.
