At Future Ready 2026, Cecile Huet, Head of the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Excellence unit at the European Commission, discussed why it’s essential for the EU to invest in robotics and AI now.
Beyond investment, maximising the impact of these transformative technologies also requires strategic sharing, collaboration, and exploitation of outcomes.
Future Ready, organised by ADRA (The AI, Data, Robotics Association), brought together researchers, innovators, industry leaders, and policymakers to showcase successful projects, explore synergies, and identify opportunities for further development and commercialisation:

The Commission represents and upholds the interests of the EU as a whole, and is independent of national governments.
The European Commission prepares legislation for adoption by the Council (representing the member countries) and the Parliament (representing the citizens). It administers the budget and the policy programmes (agriculture, fisheries, research etc.) in cooperation with authorities in the member countries. The Commission's work is steered by a College of Commissioners, and led by its President. The Commissioners work on specific policy priorities that are set out by the Commission President.
