Crochet Bathroom Basket Pattern:
Crochet Hook: K/6.5MM
Yarn: Any 4 strands of yarn will work for this pattern.
Need Also: 1 scrap piece of yarn/stitch marker/safety pin
Skein Challenge Notes: follow along with my skein challenge and crochet a variety of like-minded items as a gift or just to have around your home! For this challenge, I am working with FOUR skeins of the Lion Brand Yarns Re-Up (100% recycled cotton and polyester blend yarn). It is size 4, Medium weight yarn, and the colors are Rust and Sea Glass! I made two of the baskets in the challenge, reversing the colors.
Start with the color you want in the background. Working with TWO STRANDS of it at once, attach yarn to the crochet hook, and create a very long chain rope. Place a safety pin in the loop to hold your stitches (this will also allow you to add more chains as necessary).
Row 1: Insert crochet hook in the 1st CH of your chain rope and keep the st on your crochet hook while you place a Magic Circle. Draw through the chain rope, then working OVER the chain rope, place 8 SC st inside the MC.
NOTE: we are going to be working OVER the chain rope for the rest of the pattern.
Row 2: Working a spiral pattern, place 2 SC in each st in the row - marking the 1st st of the row - for a total of 16 SC st.
Row 3: *1 SC in st 1, 2 SC in st 2.* Repeat * around the row (24 total SC st).
Row 4: *1 SC in st 1 - 2, 2 SC in st 3.* Repeat * around the row (32 total SC st).
Row 5: *1 SC in st 1 - 3, 2 SC in st 4.* Repeat * around the row (40 total SC st).
Row 6: *1 SC in st 1 - 4, 2 SC in st 5.* Repeat * around the row (48 total SC st).
Row 7: *1 SC in st 1 - 5, 2 SC in st 6.* Repeat * around the row (56 total SC st).
Row 8: *1 SC in st 1 - 6, 2 SC in st 7.* Repeat * around the row (64 total SC st).
Row 9: 1 SC in the BLO of each st in the row.
Rows 10 - 24: 1 SC in each st in each row.
To finish off the basket, pull out the chain rope until only 1 loop is sticking out from your last st. Insert crochet hook in the chain rope’s loop, then place 1 SC in the following st (using the non-chain rope’s working yarn). After yarning over, pull through all three loops on the crochet hook to drop the chain rope.
Place 1 SC in the following 3 st, then 1 SL st in the following 3 st.
Cut and tie off both ends of yarn, making sure to tie a knot with the chain rope tail to ensure it doesn’t pull out.
Hide tails on the inside of the basket.
