Crochet Scrap Yarn Wine Cozy Pattern:
Crochet Hook: K/6.50MM
Yarn: Any TWO strands of scrap yarn.
*NOTE: for this entire pattern, we are going to crochet two strands simultaneously like they are one strand of yarn. To add additional yarn, please see timestamp 4:57 of this tutorial video!
Attach yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle (MC).
Row 1: CH 1 then place 6 SC inside the MC.
Row 2: Working in a spiral pattern, place 1 SL st in the BLO & FLO of each of the 6 SC st from the previous row. Make sure you mark the 1st st with a st marker or scrap piece of yarn (12 total SL st).
Row 3: *1 SL st in the FLO of st 1, then place 1 SL st in the BLO & FLO of st 2.* Repeat * around the row. Make sure you mark the 1st st with a st (18 total SL st).
Row 4: *1 SL st in the FLO of st 1 & 2, then place 1 SL st in the BLO & FLO of st 3.* Repeat * around the row. Make sure you mark the 1st st with a st (24 total SL st).
Row 5: *1 SL st in the FLO of st 1 - 3, then place 1 SL st in the BLO & FLO of st 4.* Repeat * around the row. Make sure you mark the 1st st with a st (30 total SL st).
Row 6: *1 SL st in the FLO of st 1 - 4, then place 1 SL st in the BLO & FLO of st 5.* Repeat * around the row. Make sure you mark the 1st st with a st (36 total SL st).
Rows 7 - 32: Place 1 SL st in the FLO of each st in each row, continuing with the spiral pattern.
Rows 33 - 38: Place 1 SL st in the BLO of each st in each row, continuing with the spiral pattern.
Row 39: Place 1 SL st in the FULL next st, then CH 9. Skip 9 st, then place 1 SL st in the FULL 10th st. Place 1 SL st in the BLO of the next 7 st, then place 1 SL st in the FULL next st. CH 9, skip 9 st, and place 1 SL st in the FULL st of the 10th. Place 1 SL st in the BLO of the next 7 st (36 total st).
Rows 40 - 45: Place 1 SL st in the BLO of each st in the row - working in the CH stitches that form the handle and the SL st between. End Row 45 in the st between the 2nd and 1st handle. Place 1 SL st in the FULL st of the next two st, then cut and tie off yarn.
Hide tails in the direction you were crocheting for a few st, then up the inside of the wine tote.
