In an unexpected twist of events, my one year old Dyson SV03 V6 Slim decided that a full charge now lasts less than one minute. Granted I have not always been on top of the maintenance procedure, but having read through the manual and looked at the indication on the LED, something seemed a but off.

Though the indication is that the battery is is flat, I believe this to be false and I have proven this to be so. However, for good measure I did test the charger to ensure the charging system was working with a multimeter, and it was operating normally.

For this video, I did pre-clean/repair this unit. I did not want to work and video and handle cameras with a nasty unit. And since the reason for all of this is due to internal resistance that extends far beyond what the cleaning regiment in the manual describes I begin with the breakdown of the unit and address both the shortcomings of the manual and the unit itself.

Note that this issue should be tested without any extensions for this problem. The problem could exist in the extension or the end device.

With that, disassembly begins with the basket, and brushing off of the screen as specified in the manual with the removal of the top filter. That is the extent of the following of the manual. I'd recommend doing this outside , with a mask in a well ventilated area.

To demonstrate the full cleaning I carefully unclip this screen as shown in the video and remove it, joining other pieces that are simply washed. What lies below is so impacted with disgustingness, that the screws might not be visible, requiring air and a brush to expose.

Having removed the dirt on the shroud, it is unscrewed and joins items to be washed and dried. below it is further nastiness, and a series of tubes, mine, being impacted with dirt. All of these small tubes must be cleaned out for proper operation.

I demonstrate that dirt and nastiness does not come out of the filter running it under the tap, it just makes it worse. I further separate it with the three snaps. Mine was filled with dig hair and the water from cleaning turned the dirt into cement. I used the shower head to clean out the filter to brand new condition.

With everything dried, reassembly is conducted and a full charge is allowed to occur. I tested a full run with a stopwatch before the batter went flat and found that the full length of time had been restored to the unit.
