J.P. MarceauJohn and I keep exploring the ontologies of naturalism and Christianity. Don't miss the last 25 minutes, as John makes what is by far the best anti-theist argument I have ever heard (50:30). I believe I will both enjoy and find beneficial wrestling with it in the coming weeks or months. Suggestions and criticisms are very welcome. Hope that was useful, and thanks for listening.

Marceau2023-10-13 | During the past few months, I’ve been writing a book and assembling a course to provide a thorough introduction to the metaphysics that have emerged in the symbolic world over the last few years. In particular, I want to cover the best of what came out of the discussions I had with Jonathan, John and Paul around non-reductive naturalism, levels of being, and the Incarnation. If you liked my articles/conversations but didn’t quite get it, I’m hoping that this course would fix that.
I’m thinking about 6 sessions of roughly 2 hours. Cost around 160$. Sometime on Thursdays. We would probably start early November.
Now, before opening and publicizing the course, what I’d like to do here is gauge interest, so please, let me know in the comments if you’d be interested. Also, please let me know what kind of time slot would work best for you (including your timezone please). I’m pretty flexible and I’m guessing that evenings would be best for most people, but I don’t have a great idea of the different timezones people are in.Aquinas & Neoplatonism — With Gaven KerrJ.P. Marceau2022-12-18 | Gaven Kerr answers some of my questions about how Aquinas might solve some of the problems facing his neoplatonic predecessors.

Marceau2022-12-16 | I continue my explorations into the symbolism of work with Ryan Barton, who's been thinking about about work and meaning for much longer than I have!
Let me know what you think about this, it could be useful for the rest of the series.

Norris Clarke on Aquinas. We try to drill down on the problem of emanation, and especially on whether Aquinas can answer better than Plotinus did. It wasn't easy, so we'll have to do a follow up 😅

I outline an argument I recently made to go beyond panpsychism into neoplatonism, and John asks great clarification questions, as always. Conversation ensues!

Marceau2021-09-08 | Paul, John and I circumambulate around teleology and Easter, to see how close naturalism and Christianity can get to one another.

Marceau2019-08-03 | As Vervaeke points out, the meaning crisis in the west was augured in by Aquinas' distinction between the natural/reason and supernatural/faith. In this video, I attempt to bridge the gap by calling on Aquinas himself, Bergson, and David Bentley Hart. In later videos I will take much more time to elaborate on David Bentley Hart's work.Taking Metaphysical and Existential Risks with Vervaeke and BergsonJ.P. Marceau2019-08-03 | Both Vervaeke's and Bergson's ontologies are viable. Bergson is however willing to take more risks, and gets more in return. This is true ontologically and also existentially. As far as the meaning crisis goes, Vervaeke's position can actually facilitate holding Bergson's by giving it a viable fallback, which, after all, still points towards the cultivation of virtue and wisdom. Thus, the very real existential risk of accepting Bergson's non naturalism can be strongly mitigated.Panpsychism and the Meaning Crisis w/ John VervaekeJ.P.
