Today is one of those days on the farm that we hate but have to do anyway.
We’re dumping 60–70,000 sacks of perfectly good potatoes. Not because they’re bad — but because the potato market is in rough shape. Prices are so low that selling or even giving them away would make things worse for everyone. Sometimes the hard decision is the only decision.
While we’re hauling and spreading potatoes as fertilizer, we’re also fighting breakdowns, fixing equipment, and working on our potato planter that needs serious repairs. Between frozen ground, worn-out belts, bad bearings, and a pile that just won’t cooperate, it’s one of those winter farm days.
This is real farming — tough calls, long days, busted knuckles, and doing what it takes to stay in business another year.
