We are finally finishing up installing battery shut-offs on all of our farm trucks… and of course nothing goes perfectly.
One of these trucks has had a constant battery draw since we bought it. Even with newer batteries, it’s always dead when we go to start it. So today we rewired everything, built custom cables, mounted the disconnect switch in a not-so-ideal location, drilled through the cab floor, and got it all hooked up.
But that’s not all…
While testing it, we discovered an electrical arc behind the dash that might explain why the batteries keep dying — and why the heater fan hasn’t been working right. Turns out sometimes it’s the little things.
We also:
• Swapped out leaking oil barrels
• Pressure washed the entire shop floor
• Picked up a repaired driveshaft
• And tested whether this “good deal” truck actually likes to idle (spoiler: it doesn’t)
Just another winter shop day on the farm trying to keep equipment ready for the next season.
