A bizarre incident aboard American Airlines Flight 618 took an unexpected turn when it was revealed that Christian author and Messianic Jewish rabbi Jonathan Cahn was the passenger allegedly attacked by the disruptive man who was ultimately restrained with duct tape and zip ties. On September 3, 2026 flight from Dallas to Newark was diverted to Baltimore after the passenger reportedly became violent, and video of the “duct tape passenger” quickly made national news. In this video, we examine what happened aboard the flight, hear Jonathan Cahn’s firsthand testimony, and discuss the remarkable timing of the incident following the release of his new book, The Altar of Pergamon: The Mystery of the Dark Angel and the Future of the World, which deals extensively with spiritual warfare, principalities and powers, biblical prophecy, and the unseen spiritual dimension behind world events.
While I have disagreements with aspects of Jonathan Cahn’s ministry, prophetic interpretations, numerology, and associations within the charismatic world, I believe this incident raises important questions worth discussing. Ephesians 6:10–13 reminds Christians that our struggle is ultimately “not against flesh and blood,” but against spiritual forces of evil. Was what happened to Jonathan Cahn simply an alarming case of an unruly airline passenger, or should Christians consider whether there was also a deeper spiritual dimension? We’ll examine Cahn’s testimony, the national news coverage surrounding Flight 618, his new book on spiritual warfare, and what this story can teach the Church about biblical discernment in increasingly turbulent times.
