In this video, I examine the “Dangerously Anointed” teaching promoted by Benny Hinn and David Diga Hernandez and ask whether this message reflects biblical teaching about the anointing, humility, surrender, and the cost of following Jesus. As a lifelong Charismatic who believes in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the possibility of genuine revival, I’m deeply concerned about a version of Charismatic Christianity that emphasizes spiritual power, platforms, and extraordinary experiences without giving equal weight to the cross, dying to self, humility, sacrifice, and obedience. We’ll look at statements from Benny Hinn and David Diga Hernandez, compare them with Scripture, and discuss why Christians should be careful about boasting in how “anointed” they believe themselves to be.
I also contrast this teaching with Kathryn Kuhlman’s repeated emphasis on surrender and the cost of being used by God. While I do not endorse everything Kuhlman taught or practiced, her message that ministry requires death to self stands in sharp contrast to much of today’s celebrity-driven Charismatic culture. Everyone wants resurrection, revival, spiritual gifts, and the power of God—but few want the deaths and burials that come before resurrection. If we truly want another Great Awakening and an authentic move of the Holy Spirit, perhaps we need to stop talking about being “dangerously anointed” and start asking a much harder question: Are we willing to surrender everything, take up our cross, and become vessels God can actually use?
