Shafts and washers to connect the levers to the side parts …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
Now that we have some almost finished side parts (links below) and levers (links below) we can turn the two shafts to connect both. We also need two custom washers as spacers between the side parts and the levers.
We use a single piece of 18mm aluminum round stock to turn both a washer and a shaft in one go (the outer diameter of the washer and main diameter of the shaft is identical). The shaft is finished by milling a little round slot into it.
00:00 Intro – making shafts to connect everything
01:32 Detailed drawing – shafts and washers
03:49 Round stock – length considerations
05:04 Turned (1) – 12mm diameter
09:08 Turned (2) – down to a length of 26mm
12:42 Turned (3) – face of washer
13:47 Drilled – inner 8mm diameter of washer
14:28 Turned (4) – parted off the washer
15:46 Turned (5) – down to a length of 2.5mm
17:05 Turned (6) – 8mm diameter hole, 2.5mm deep
20:07 Lathe tools – from PROXXON and their usage
22:05 Marked – rounded slot
23:21 Milled – rounded slot 1mm deep, 2.5mm radius
25:33 Wrap-up – next time we start with the body, bye
