This is a development reel for a complex car simulation made in Blender. The model is based on the actual construction design FEM model (LS-DYNA) of that car and it is simulated with the Bullet Constraints Builder (BCB) + Fracture Modifier (FM) physics tools.

The BCB is a structural simulation software developed for building collapse simulations and this is the first time it is used to simulate a vehicle. The goal is to make vehicle simulations more realistic by using real world parameters and by simulating every piece of the car physically.

Having said that and before you ask, this is not a game. Perhaps GTA X will support this in 20 years but current hardware is not there yet, sorry. :)

Some stats for nerds:
Car - 2.4m triangles in 3k elements connected with 130k constraints
Simulation time - 4 sec. per frame (16 min. per 10 sec. simulation time)
Render time - It's just OpenGL, 1 sec. per frame

$Brickify - Bricks, Buildings, Blender, Bullet - 3D Destruction Physics Prototype brick-shape fracture method for Blender Fracture Modifier. Brickify took 3 min to fracture. The 50 steps/s simulation took 5 min to simulate. Doubling the steps count means doubling the simulation time while increasing accuracy. Rendering took 2 days. Enjoy! All objects shown in this video are solid and watertight, they do not include any non-manifold geometry, and there are also no air bubbles as the shards fit together perfectly. Good to go for rigid body simulation. However, to work efficiently together with rigid body simulation this requires also some improved shape type alongside the classical Convex Hull. $Dom-Ino House Exposed to Earthquake using Dynamic Fracture This video shows various simulations of a classic steel reinforced concrete building design in a scenario of strong seismic activity. The simulation is done in Blender with my Bullet engine based Dynamic Fracture system. Now it is working together with rigid body constraints, thus making it compatible with prefracturing based systems like the fracture modifier and the Bullet Constraints Tools addon. What is this good for, you ask? Well, since Dynamic Fracture always attempts to fracture one object as a whole it can lead to undesired results when fracturing huge structures like complex buildings merged into one mesh. Now one can use a mix of both methods. Edit: You can do all this now with Fracture Modifier and Bullet Constraints Builder add-on which can also generate earthquake motion.
