The assembly of my 4x8 PlasmaCNC calls for using 1/4-inch plates to join the Y-Axis Tube to the Y-Axis Gantry Tube. The plates are acting as my guide to drill through the 11 gauge steel tubing, which has a 0.12 inch wall thickness. It's a slow process from the side with little force able to be applied. I am using Anchorlube and that is helping some but it doesn't remain because of gravity and the heat. Later I use a clamp in between my drill and the steel plate to pull the drill bit into the steel. That worked great.

If you are new to here I am building a large format 4x8 Plasma CNC. I officially started the build on March 23, 2025 but have been preoccupied with some side projects. Such projects included finishing my garage, building a miter saw station that also doubles as a storage cart and acquiring additional tools for metal fabrication.
