After 3 months of writing and 1 month of trying to download an audio file to this, I finally have my arrangement of Asylum: Dreams for Wind Ensembles. The piece is 9 minutes long and separated into 4 different parts. The beginning (or part one) is called "Good Dreams". If you haven't heard Asylum: Dreams before (link will be at the bottom of the description or find it on my SoundCloud), it is exactly the same thing except it cuts out into a rit. with an Alto Sax Solo after the Db Major ending note instead of 4 more bars of the melody. The one thing I liked about part one is the simple melody that goes 2+3+4 and how it came out to sound so lovely. Between Part 1 and Part 2, there is a transition leading into the next faze of Dreams. It starts out with an Alto Sax solo that slowly goes into a slower tempo. After that, there will be a pause for a french horn cadenza with cues for the band. After the last note of the solo hits, the french horn holds the note for 2 measures while the last thing we should here is a piano note and a harp chord.
Part 2 is called "Lucid Dreaming". If you didn't know, Lucid Dreaming is a certain kind of dream that will allow you to interact with it and experience all the senses in the dream. In "Lucid Dreaming", I wanted to show this as a waltz. Imagine that you had a dream about being Cinderella and went to ball. This is my example.
To make this description shorter, Part 3 is called "Free" and Part 4 is called "Awakening". To be honest from to the end, I ran out of ideas. I originally was just going to base it off of the duet I made a while back but I thought that would be too short, so I decided to add some more music. In my personal opinion, I think the music sounds wonderful but it doesn't really make sense to the idea of what the song's idea should be. Otherwise, I think I did a pretty decent job with this piece.
If you think I should add a little more or maybe a section out, please let me know (if anyone reads this). My plan is to add about a minute and a half to the waltz but since I can't make audio files with the Finale file of Dreams until I upgrade to Version 25, that might take a while. Otherwise, I hope you all enjoy and PLEASE WEAR HEADPHONES! :)
