Hailing from New Zealand but relocating to Australia in the mid-70s, Dragon have racked up a slew of hit singles and albums, beginning with their hit album, “Sunshine” in 1977. “Bondi Road” was their ninth album and charted at #18 in Australia; their last album to reach the Australian Top-20 album chart.
The album included five singles – including a revival of Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” – but “Ice In This Town” was not among them. The song was co-written by fellow New Zealander, Sharon O’Neil, a recording artist in her own right with hit albums, such as the #3 charting, “Words” to her credit. Her co-writer and partner, Alan Mansfield was keyboardist with Dragon at this time.
Sadly we lost the great Marc Hunter, one Dragon’s founder members, in 1998, at the way-too-young age of 44.
