Dr. Lisa B. Thompson is an author, playwright, and scholar, whose work examines stereotypes about Black life in the United States, particularly the experiences of the Black middle class. She is a professor of African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and a New School Presidental Visiting Scholar for 2022. She is the author of four books, including 2021's The Mamalogues.
In this series, Dr. Dwight A. McBride, president of The New School, converses with scholars, artists, activists, and a wide range of notable individuals to share their work, their experiences, and their views on a whole host of issues.
