http://www.DhruvaAliman.com/GIANT Underwater Sculpture ~ Atabey ~ Coral Reef Art ~ Sosua Dominican RepublicDhruva Aliman Music2024-10-12 | Visit My Travel Channel - youtube.com/@DhruvaAliman/videos ... ATABEY is 15 feet tall and stands on a 5 foot base, making her the tallest underwater sculpture in the world ~ How an underwater sculpture is helping to accelerate coral reef restoration in Sosua, Dominican Republic. A collective of artists, environmental NGO’s, and marine biologists have united to create an underwater sculpture inspired by Atabey, the Universal Mother of the Taino people. The Taino were the indigenous people of the Dominican Republic, the first people to encounter Columbus and Spanish colonialism. Through culture, art, and science, a community-driven movement is being led to improve both the ecology and quality of life for reef-dependent communities such as Sosua, Dominican Republic.
The sculpture that was created symbolizes the revival of indigenous wisdom with an aim to restore the biodiversity of the coral reef ecosystem. The Initiative is a collaboration between the Maguá Ecological Foundation, Global Coralition, and the Ministry of the Environment. The project contributors also include Mary Jean Infante and Irka Mateo, in relation to its anthropological aspects, and Hanna Bueno, cultural manager and liaison for the Dominican Ministry of Culture.
Submerged in the heart of Sosúa Bay, this sculpture of Atabey, the Arawacan and Taino deity, is a reference point for historical, cultural, touristic, and environmental contributions. One of the largest underwater sculptures in the Caribbean, at 16 feet, this construction is in steel and specialized ph neutral cement.
The Atabey deployment will bring together local stakeholders and develop long-term partnerships “We believe that art is something that unites us all,” said Kyle Block, co-founder of Global Coralition, “and has the power to spread an important message. We have to protect our oceans and our coral reefs.”
Angeline Chen, co-founder of the project said: “We are very grateful to everyone who has made this project what it is: our construction team, our cultural and scientific advisors, our ecological partners, our donors, volunteers, and the local community that has supported this project.”
Art, Science & Culture Unite to Preserve the Reef in Sosua Bay
Manuel Rodriguez, a Marine Ecologist and founder of Magua Ecological Foundation has been working to restore Sosúa Bay’s marine ecology since he was 15 when he first witnessed its decline. Building on the years of his work and his incredible knowledge of this local ecosystem, Global Coralition has joined forces in the restoration effort, along with the support of Sam Mercado a coral scientist. Bridging art and science, the sculptural installation Atabey will hold hundreds of coral transplants and micro-fragmented corals to aid coral reef restoration.
The world’s coral has decreased by 50% in the last 30 years and is estimated to lose 90% by 2050. Coral reefs support 25% of all marine life. They absorb 97% of wave and storm energy, protecting coastlines. They provide food, livelihood, and medicine to billions of people. Coral reefs are crucial for the survival and stability of all life on our planet.
More about Global Coralition
Global Coralition is an organization that unites art, science, and communities to accelerate coral reef regeneration worldwide. Through the creation of large-scale sculptures deployed into the ocean, the expansion into immersive underwater gardens for coral is formed.
The community is welcome in the mornings and near sunset to assist in the work of preparing the sculpture for a new home for coral and fish. Follow @globalcoralition for more updates about ongoing efforts in the water and on land.

Mitchell. It features Kathryn McGuire, Joe Keaton, and Ward Crane. In 1991, Sherlock Jr. was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." In 2000, the American Film Institute, as part of its AFI 100 Years... series, ranked the film #62 in its list of the funniest films of all time (AFI's 100 Years... 100 Laughs). Plot- A movie theater projectionist and janitor is in love with a beautiful loveable girl. However, he has a rival, the "local sheik". Neither has much money. The projectionist buys a $1 box of chocolates, all he can afford, and changes the price to $4 before giving it and a ring to her. The sheik steals and pawns the girl's father's pocket watch for $4. With the money, he buys a $3 box of chocolates for the girl. When the father notices his watch is missing, the sheik slips the pawn ticket into the projectionist's pocket unnoticed. The projectionist, studying to be a detective, offers to solve the crime, but when the pawn ticket is found in his pocket, he is banished from the girl's home.
While showing a film about the theft of a pearl necklace, the projectionist falls asleep and dreams that he enters the movie as a detective, Sherlock Jr. The other actors are replaced by the projectionist's "real" acquaintances. The dream begins with the theft being committed by the villain with the aid of the butler. The girl's father calls for the world's greatest detective, and Sherlock Jr. arrives. Fearing that they will be caught, the villain and the butler attempt to kill Sherlock through several traps, poison, and an elaborate pool game with an exploding 13 ball. When these fail, the villain and butler try to escape. Sherlock Jr. tracks them down to a warehouse but is outnumbered by the gang to which the villain was selling the necklace. During the confrontation, Sherlock discovers that they have kidnapped the girl. With the help of his assistant, Gillette, Sherlock Jr. manages to save the girl, and defeat the gang.
When he awakens, the girl shows up to tell him that she and her father learned the identity of the real thief after she went to the pawn shop to see who actually pawned the pocket watch. As a reconciliation scene happens to be playing on the screen, the projectionist mimics the actor's romantic behavior.
SOS is the international Morse code distress signal (· · · – – – · · ·). This distress signal was first adopted by the German government in radio regulations effective April 1, 1905, and became the worldwide standard under the second International Radiotelegraphic Convention, which was signed on November 3, 1906, and became effective on July 1, 1908. SOS remained the maritime radio distress signal until 1999, when it was replaced by the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System. SOS is still recognized as a visual distress signal.
The SOS distress signal is a continuous sequence of three dits, three dahs, and three dits, all run together without letter spacing. In International Morse Code, three dits form the letter S, and three dahs make the letter O, so "SOS" became an easy way to remember the order of the dits and dahs. In modern terminology, SOS is a Morse "procedural signal" or "prosign", and the formal way to write it is with a bar above the letters: SOS.
In popular usage, SOS became associated with such phrases as "Save Our Ship" or "Save Our Souls" or "Send Out Succour". SOS is only one of several ways that the combination could have been written; VTB, for example, would produce exactly the same sound, but SOS was chosen to describe this combination. SOS is the only nine-element signal in Morse code, making it more easily recognizable, as no other symbol uses more than eight elements.

Peter Lisle was a Scottish born deckhand aboard the Betsy, an American schooner, who was captured by corsairs from Tripoli. After his imprisonment, he decided to convert to Islam and became a corsair himself, taking the name of an earlier corsair Murad Rais. The Betsy, renamed Meshuda, became his flagship, and he became the admiral of Tripoli’s navy. Lisle was caught stealing by his shipmates off the coast of North Africa, but before he had to face the consequences of his actions, the ship was captured by pirate ship out of Tripoli. As was the usual practice, the American sailors were taken prisoner, but they were soon released after the payment of a ransom. All but one. Peter Lisle, in order to avoid the punishment he had coming for his theft aboard the Betsey, chose to remain in Tripoli and convert to Islam. Lisle had made several voyages to the Levant earlier in his life, during the course of which he had become fluent in Arabic. Peter Lisle took the name of Murat Rais after his conversion, possibly as a nod to a famous seventeenth-century Algerian pirate of the same name. That earlier Murat Rais was also a western convert to Islam, a young Dutch sailor who was forced to convert when he was captured by a powerful Barbary pirate who developed a strong tendré for the young man. That young Dutchman had gone on to become one of the most famous admirals of the Ottoman Empire.
Scotsman Peter Lisle, the later Murat Rais, was a particularly opportunistic sailor, who made quite a name for himself in Tripoli. After his conversion, he shipped aboard the Betsey, which had been converted into an Arab privateer renamed the Meshuda. During his time as a Barbary pirate, Rais steadily rose in rank, ultimately becoming the commander of the Meshuda. He also accumulated a great deal of personal wealth as his share of the ships he had captured. He married the daughter of the Bashaw of Tripoli, Yusef Karanmanli, despite the fact he had a Christian wife and five children living in Wapping, London. In 1796, Rais was made High Admiral of the Barbary fleet in Tripoli. Imagine the surprise of the American commander, Commodore Richard Dale, in July of 1801, when he hailed a Tripolitan ship in the port of Gibraltar, only to receive a response in English, spoken with a Scottish accent. The ship was the Meshuda, commanded by Murat Rais. Commodore Dale was seeking news of the American Consul, James Cathcart, and verification of whether or not the United States and the Barbary pirates were enjoying a period of peace or were at war. Rais knew his ships were no match for the ships of the U. S. Navy, so he claimed peace prevailed until he could sail out of the port, despite the fact that a state of war existed between the two nations.
The forty-something, heavily bearded, reddish-blond Scotsman, Murat Rais, was still High Admiral of the fleet in Tripoli in October of 1803. On behalf of Bashaw Karanmanli, he interrogated the American sailors who had been taken prisoner when the U.S.S. Philadelphia ran aground in the harbor there. He also repeatedly threatened them with torture and death simply because he enjoyed it. Of the more than 270 sailors captured on the Philadelphia that fall, four became what their comrades called "Turn-Turks." These men converted to Islam, then accepted positions as wardens and overseers of their shipmates who had elected to remain Christian, and thus slaves. Murat Rais remained High Admiral of the fleet of Tripoli until 1815. Sometime after that, Rais, who was described as hot-tempered, seems to have had a falling out with Bashaw Karanmanli, and lost his position. However, he does appear to have remained in the Bashaw’s sphere, frequently serving as an interpreter with British and American officials for at least another ten years. After that, the second Murat Rais disappears from history.

End credits music: Slave and Rose by Dhruva AlimanSurreal Old Timey Film Of New York City In 1911Dhruva Aliman Music2018-12-14 | More Old Film of Cities Around the World here - youtube.com/watch?v=rHqha40xRL4 ...Rare Footage of New York City in 1911 shows everyday life in New York City over 100 years ago. The film features famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Flatiron Building, and showcases what life on New York streets looked like. The early 1900s were a period of rapid change for New York City. The city's population was ballooning as an influx of immigrants passed through Ellis Island. Massive skyscrapers began popping up seemingly overnight, many of them among the tallest in the world at the time. And new technology such as automobiles and elevated trains made the city more accessible than ever.
In 1911, Swedish company Svenska Biografteatern produced a nine-minute film showing everyday life in Manhattan. The remarkably clear footage, released by the Museum of Modern Art last year, includes recognizable modern-day landmarks like the Flatiron Building and the Statue of Liberty, as well as buildings that no longer exist, such as the New York Herald Building.
"Produced only three years before the outbreak of World War I, the everyday life of the city recorded here — street traffic, people going about their business — has a casual, almost pastoral quality," the museum wrote.
The film shows a boat arriving at New York Harbor with the Statue of Liberty in the distance.
The harbor is still used by cruise lines, commuter ferries, and tourist boats. And the Statue of Liberty is as popular a tourist destination as ever. The Flatiron Building, completed in 1902, was one of the tallest buildings in the world when it was built. Today, the Flatiron Building isn't among the tallest 1,000 buildings in New York City. But its distinct appearance has made it one of the most popular and photographed landmarks in the Big Apple.

This video performs you the process of a fertilized egg to a baby in 3D!! Excerpt from French documentary L'Odyssée de la Vie. ...Explanations - After sexual intercourse, sperm travels through the cervix and uterus and into the Fallopian tubes. Conception usually takes place in the outer third of the Fallopian tube. A single sperm penetrates that egg and a joining of the genetic information occurs. This resulting single cell is called a zygote. The zygote spends the next few days traveling down the Fallopian tube and rapidly multiplying the number of cells through division. A mulberry-like mass, like a hollow rubber ball, 1/100 inch wide, results from the cell division. This ball of cells in the Fallopian tube is called a morula. The embryonic stage begins on the 15th day after conception and continues until about the 8th week, or until the embryo is 1.2 inches in length.
Week 3 we see the formation of the heart, the beginning development of the brain and spinal cord, and the beginning of the gastrointestinal tract. Weeks 4 and 5 -1/4 inch long: Here we see the beginnings of the vertebra, the lower jaw, the larynx ("voice box"), and the rudiments of the ear and eye. The heart, which is still outside body, now beats at a regular rhythm. Although arm and leg "buds" are visible with hand and foot "pads," the embryo still has a tail and cannot be distinguished from pig, rabbit, elephant, or chick embryo by an untrained eye. Week 6 - 1/2 inch, 1/1000 of an ounce: In week 6, we see the formation of the nose, jaw, palate, lung buds. The fingers and toes form, but may still be webbed. The tail is receding, and the heart is almost fully developed. Week 7 - 7/8 inch, 1/30 ounce (less than an aspirin): This week, the eyes move forward on the face, and the eyelids and tongue begin to form. All essential organs have begun to form. Week 8 -1 inch, 1/15 ounce: The embryo now resembles a human being. The facial features continue to develop and the external ear appears. Also, we see the beginnings of external genitalia. By now, the circulation through the umbilical cord is well developed. The long bones begin to form and the muscles are able to contract. At this point the embryo is developed enough to call a fetus. All organs and structures found in a full-term newborn are present. Weeks 9 to 12 - 3 inches, 1 ounce: The head comprises nearly half of the fetus' size and the face is well formed. The eyelids close now and will not reopen until about the 28th week. The tooth buds for the baby teeth appear. The genitalia are now clearly male or female. Weeks 13 to 16 - 6 inches: These weeks mark the beginning of the second trimester. Although the skin of the fetus is almost transparent, fine hair develops on the head called lanugo. The fetus makes active movements, including sucking, which leads to some swallowing of the amniotic fluid. A thin dark substance called meconium is made in the intestinal tract. The heart beats120-150 beats per minute and brain waves detectable. Weeks 17 to 20 - 8 inches: Eyebrows and lashes appear and nails appear on fingers and toes. This is an exciting time for the parents: The mother can feel the fetus moving ("quickening") and the fetal heartbeat can be heard with a stethoscope. Weeks 21 to 24 - 11.2 inches, 1 lb. 10 oz.: All the eye components are developed, footprints and fingerprints are forming, and the entire body covered in cream-cheese-like vernix caseosa. The fetus now has a startle reflex. Weeks 25 to 28 - 15 inches, 2 lbs. 11 oz.: Now we are entering the third trimester. During these weeks, we see rapid brain development. The nervous system is developed enough to control some body functions, and the eyelids open and close. A baby born at this time may survive, but the chances of complications and death are high. Weeks 29 to 32 - 15 to 17 inches, 4 lbs. 6 oz.: These weeks see further development towards independent life: There is a rapid increase in the amount of body fat and the fetus begins storing its own iron, calcium, and phosphorus. The bones are fully developed, but still soft and pliable. There are rhythmic breathing movements present, the fetal body temperature is partially self-controlled, and there is increased central nervous system control over body functions. Weeks 33 to 36 - 16 to 19 inches, 5 lbs. 12 oz. to 6 lbs. 12 oz.: The lanugo (body hair) begins to disappear. A baby born at 36 weeks has a high chance of survival. Weeks 37 to 40 - 19 to 21 inches 7 or 8 pounds: At 38 weeks, the fetus is considered full term.MAN AND BEAST - Part 17Dhruva Aliman Music2017-11-10 | ALL CREDITS ARE LISTED BELOW...WITH LINKS Song: Reverse Myself (Instrumental Version) by Dhruva Aliman http://www.dhruvaaliman.com - Video Clips from the following, IN ORDER-- Baby Deer trapped in Pool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXX6zm1sJEQ 3 Bear Cubs Rescued From Dumpster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14pYl9bBwsI Bear Trampoline http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa1pIO4_lUY Raccoon mechanic reporting for duty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3P53Psan7U Dog gives receipt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHcUkc4tshA Котэ провоцирует ДТП http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb0SqAIouL0 ATTACK OF THE APE (Man Attacked For Being Too Tall) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE-9EASHmM0 Animal Attacks_ 04 - Lion Attacks Trainer in Germany! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T33fK1agT8s Buffalo attacked man!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiqzpvpwljY Angry Gorilla Hits Window http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw-yLLaTmZU Monkey Attack in Bali http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqDbWcmXaxw Friendly teddy bear waving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ia1utjXSr8 Dog Climbing , Portugal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VE262FFTt4 Sergeant helps a Moose that is stuck in swingset http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYUQrVsDRqc Llama spits on the face http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIh99vGbhMQ Orangutan Spitting at me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dknQdhfpnCU Smoking Orangutan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v7xORkoQMU Smoking orangutan to be sent to 'rehab' on Indonesian island http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQDcuSGCX7o Smoking Goat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlv1bfe5gk0 Buttermilk plays with her friends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IuRzJRrRpQ Original Video_ Surfing goats hit waves in San Onofre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zhWc1RfM9g Goat Attack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OltNuqy-vpk Gibbon Stealing Our Bananas! Pattaya Hotels and Travel Guide Pattaya Travel Information Pattaya is always switched on and fun. This vibrant coastal city shot to fame in early 1980s, and stayed there. From sunrise to sunset, Pattaya’s beaches are constantly brimming with life, as water sports lovers and sun worshippers take to the waters. After dark, the action shifts to the streets, as revellers explore its electrified nightlife scene, where drinking and partying continue until dawn. Apart from water sports and nightlife, Pattaya offers endless possibilities when it comes to accommodation and entertainment. It has outgrown its image as a seedy beach town to a destination for a wider audience; whether couples, families or business travellers, Pattaya has something for everyone. Only 147km from Bangkok, Pattaya is the closest of Thailand's major beach resorts to the capital city.
Pattaya Walking Street is the biggest and busiest party hotspot in the whole of Thailand, with only a couple of the top places in Bangkok beating it for sheer volume and variety. A full kilometre from its high-tech gateway at the Beach Road end to the Bali Hai Plaza end, almost every building along its length is a nightclub, go-go bar, beer bar or restaurant. Each of the side streets – which span from Soi 14 to Soi 16, with a couple of uniquely-named streets in between - is more of the same, making the whole southern end of the city into a warren of nightlife entertainments, with something for practically every taste. The remarkable thing about Pattaya Walking Street is that there is so much to see and do, and it is so densely packed that you could spend every night for a whole week there and, aside from having the mother of all hangovers, you would still be finding new places each and every evening. We have endeavored to survey the main points of interest and even here we are just scratching the surface of the hundreds of venues on and around the neon-drenched strip.
Walking Street is effectively a part of Pattaya Beach Road. While the main tarmac-topped route turns to the left to become South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai), vehicles can continue into the brick-paved Walking Street any time between about 02:00 and 18:00. At the end of the one-way road, you will find Bali Hai Pier and the famous Pattaya City sign, as well as the southernmost end of Pattaya Third Road, which will take you back into the city. There is more to the nightlife attractions of the area than just Pattaya Walking Street, however. Most of the small side sois which split off from the inland side of the street lead all the way to Pattaya Second Road, making this whole southern end of the city almost exclusively comprised of nightlife venues and related businesses. Walking Street has concentrations of different sorts of venues as you make your way along it. Starting from the Beach Road end, you will find first mostly restaurants, then go-go bars and beer bars, then nightclubs and live music bars. At about the halfway point is the famous Walking Street Tree (there’s only the one), around which you will find mostly ladyboy bars and clubs. Continuing towards Bali Hai Pier, you will see more tailors and gem shops as well as more hotels and guesthouses, culminating in the Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa. Parking for motorbikes is available close to Pattaya Walking Street in Soi 16 and at Bali Hai Plaza and costs about 20 baht. However, driving home after a night of partying is not at all recommended. You would be much safer using the plentiful supply of motorbike taxis and songthaews available.
Today’s population of wild tigers is estimated to be around 3,200, down from 100,000 in 1900. But research by the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), Australia’s Conservation and Environmental Education 4 Life (Cee4life) and others, backed by investigations for Traffic, the wildlife trade monitoring network, suggest that more than 5,000 tigers are being farmed in China, 1,450 in Thailand, 180 in Vietnam and possibly 400 in Laos. In addition, there are private collections and zoos in most other Asian countries.
Debbie Banks of the EIA has worked undercover at tiger farms in China. She says that for the past decade, tiger breeding has been a fast-expanding and lucrative industry, often masquerading as conservation. The existence of the farms is stoking demand for luxury products and traditional Chinese medicines, and endangering the few tigers left in the wild. “These places are stockpiling dead parts in freezers. This [raid in Thailand] was just the tip of a trade that spans south-east Asia and sees so-called tiger sanctuaries and farms secretly selling tiger parts and products on the black market for enormous profit,” she said.
In Kanchanaburi, what was found out of sight of the tourists shocked even hardened wildlife investigators. Apart from 137 live tigers, they found a laboratory, suggesting that the monks were using tiger parts to make wines and medicines – as well as the carcasses of 40 cubs stored in a freezer. Farms such as these – which have grown in number and size in response to rising demand for tiger bone and other body parts, and the precipitous decline in wild tigers – say they are making people aware of the tigers’ plight and claim that their captive-bred animals could be returned to the wild.
Caretakers of the 137 tigers removed from the Tiger Temple fear they will face a worse fate in government hands.
On the morning of Monday, May 30 Tanya Erzinclioglu paced around the periphery of the temple with her colleagues. Every now and again, she anxiously glanced at her phone, taking calls or checking for updates.
"I have no idea what's happening," she said repeatedly to herself.
Tanya's mornings typically involved being inside the temple grounds where she helped to feed and observe some 137 tigers who were under her partial care. It had been her routine for six years and, from the passion with which she speaks about it, it seems to be where her heart lies.
But this morning, more than 500 officers, wildlife officials, vets and police were waiting patiently outside the main entrance to the place better known as Thailand's "Tiger Temple". By the main road, a few officers sheltered from the heat under a nine-metre-high yawning tiger head sculpture.
All 137 tigers were taken in an unprecedented raid, which also unearthed dead tiger cubs, a dead bear and various animal horns.
"We knew that the temple was using the tigers for money," the DNP Deputy District General said, "By law, they cannot do that."
Tanya, however, insisted that at least some of that money had gone into improving the living conditions of the tigers - an issue paramount to her and many of her colleagues. In particular, she highlighted the temple's pride and joy: its almost five-hectare "Tiger Island" enclosure.
Completed in 2011 at an estimated cost of 90 million baht, (slightly more than $2.5m) the 28 enclosures in Tiger Island meant that, for the first time, the tigers were able to experience outside spaces, albeit on a rotating schedule.
The open areas are strikingly different from other tiger zoos in the country. At the frenetic Sriracha Zoo, activities include tiger shows that seem to, in part, include having the cats jump through flaming hoops.
When the ex-DNP director general visited the Tiger Temple in 2012, he actually praised the tiger's living conditions, telling the Bangkok Post: "Frankly speaking, their living conditions are better than those in state-owned zoos."
