Request Playthrough | Part 1: Hell on Earth
As you all know, I covered Doom 2016 and how it ended was enough to make me wonder what comes next. Well, to my surprise, ImAGiraffe420 has donated to have me cover the next two games: Doom Eternal and Doom: The Dark Ages.
But without further ado, time to begin the sequel to Doom 2016. This is Doom Eternal. Doom Eternal would be released on March 20, 2020 for the PS4, Stadia, Windows and Xbox One. Switch wouldn't get a port until December 8 of the same year. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S get theirs on June 29, 2021. Funny enough, it had the same release timing as Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's kind of why we get fan art of Doomguy with Isabelle. How cute. Also look up “Doom Eternal Mario Odyssey”. Trust me, you'll love it.
Doom Eternal is set in 2163, 14 years after the events of the previous game. Earth has been overrun by demons. 60% of the planet's population is wiped. The UAC have turned into a demonous cult. Humanity's remnants have either left Earth or joined the Armored Response Coalition resistance. As for Doom Slayer, he's back. Now on a satellite fortress controlled by the AI named VEGA, his objective is to kill the three Hell Priests: Deags Nilox, Ranak and Grav. They serve the Khan Maykr who wishes to sacrifice humanity to ensure their own race's survival.
So we begin the first mission, Hell on Earth. And yep, it's pure hell right here. It also serves as a tutorial for the game as Doom Eternal is a bit different from the last game. Oh and we also kill the first priest Deag Nilox. Sadly the Khan Maykr sends the other two priests away. Now we need to hunt them down.
With this game, there's just one rule: you have weapons. Kill anything that moves. Not only that but we take the liberty to explore and find secrets. These secrets can provide numerous rewards and you'll need them in order to have Doom Guy be even stronger. Count on it. Plus it has replay value with multiple difficulties and multiplayer. Sadly though, the single player campaign is what I'm focused on.
We'll move onto the next mission in Part 2, Exultia.
