Before you throw that packaging paper into the recycling bin, take a closer look — it might be the perfect texture tool for your next gel print.
In this video, I'm using a variety of free packaging papers on my giant gel plate to create layers of texture, movement, and colour. By building the print one layer at a time, these everyday materials leave beautiful marks and unexpected patterns that add depth and character to the final artwork.
One of the things I love most about gel printing is that inspiration can come from the simplest materials. You don't need expensive tools to create rich, expressive prints — sometimes the best textures are already sitting in your recycling pile.
