Hello all! This track is from my latest album entitled: ISOLATION. It's a collection of 19 songs I wrote during the pandemic. Life had changed during this time for most all of us and we all probably know of someone who lost a family member, friend or other. The isolation and loss of social interaction affects each person differently. In order for me to keep my mind together as much as i could I turned to the music. Inspiration came and the tunes literally feel into my mind and so many of them I could not fit them all on this album. So I guess I have more work to do.
The title of this song, "Don't know what to do," is about the internal struggle I had trying to decide to move back home to Illinois or stay in Winslow, AZ. I was torn between both places. But it seems at this point my original decision to move to AZ was carefully weighed back in 2018 and it was the right decision. The key in life is moving forward and not returning to a place you already did and exhausted all the possibilities. As a practicing minimalist is was quite a learning experience (again) because I tried living in both places for about three months. Expenses soared and I did not have musch of the freedom I had in Winslow. I also must say the weather is such a huge factor. The weather in Illinois is mostly bad. You get about 45 good days out of the entire year and the rest is crap in one way or the other. In Winslow it's the opposite; most days are sunny. I never realized how important the sunlight is to me. I most likely had seasonal affective disorder and that's why I suffer greatly through the winters of Illinois. My experiment of trying Illinois again came to an abrupt end and I just wanted to go back west. I can visit Illinois some other time If I feel I need to go back. But I must move forward and focus on my music and sharing it with YOU as I always like to do. As I get older I realize I have no time to waste and I need to get this all out of my soul and into the world. I never know how my music is going to affect people so whether it's acceptable to some and not to others, so what, I know it's all heartfelt and some folks will be able to connect with it. Here in Winslow I always have opportunity to share my guitar picking with the tourists and it's a unique situation that comforts my soul greatly. Standing on the corner in Winslow AZ playing numerous 1970's arrangements which I hope to post more of soon on YT.
