Dog light - Its a Rubbish Challenge
The 4th in my 'Its a Rubbish Challenge' series, where I make a dog light so we can see our dog running around whilst walking him in the dark.
I attempt to make it in a little plastic solder dispenser tube with only one AA 1.5V battery to power the LED.
I found out that 1.5V isn't enough power to light up a LED and came across a great little tutorial on Instructables to build a Joule Thief to boost the power from the battery to the LED. Please visit instructables.com/id/Make-a-Joule-Thief to learn how to build the electronics and for the schematic.

I used a latching switch to turn the dog light on and off and used a strip of golden syrup tin as a conductor between the joule thief and the switch. Any metal or wire would do though I really like the graphics on the golden syrup tins and it looks good through the tube.
Attach a piece of string to tie it securely to to your dog's collar and switch on.
My wife was delighted! with it as a Christmas present from her favourite dog.
I apologise for the out of focus filming. I am still learning how to film and make these little videos and I promise that I will improve.
