Jack Kirby and Stan Lee (with inker Joe Sinnott) created the illest villain in issue 5 of Fantastic Four from 1961. In 1964, Doom’s parents put out Fantastic Four Annual #2, which establishes Victor von Doom’s Romani origins.
Later stories explore this more, along with his quest to save his mother.
This graphic novel depicts Victor in a way we don’t often get to see. Diving more into his Romani heritage and the persecution his people faced. Showing why Doom is the way he is. Stern said this book was supposed to be a Strange comic but Doom took over the plot. Very Doom thing to do.
We get to see them team up to save Doom’s mother Cynthia from Mephisto himself. Must read Doom story.
I also dive into Romani history, dating back to the middle ages up till the modern day. They are a group that has been persecuted nonstop, especially in Europe. This was my favorite part of the video and adds context to why Doom is the way he is.
Note on the postscript: No hate at all towards the religion itself. However, religion and government do not mix. This regime has caused so much destruction to the people. However, human beings do not deserve to be discriminated against for the culture or religious beliefs.
