In this video, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) explores Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS), and how individuals and families can find help and support.

When a child suddenly develops severe OCD symptoms, anxiety, tics, food restriction, emotional outbursts, or other dramatic behavioral changes, families are often left searching for answers. PANS and PANDAS are complex and frequently misunderstood conditions in which neuropsychiatric symptoms may be linked to inflammatory or post-infectious processes.

In this webinar, ADAA members Brynn Blanchard, MA Ed, LMHCA, Kathryn Boger, PhD, ABPP, Zoë Gillispie, PhD, and Angela Tang, MD, FACP discuss the mental health impact of PANS/PANDAS and provide guidance for families, educators, and healthcare providers seeking support and resources.

This discussion explores:

• Sudden-onset OCD, anxiety, and related symptoms
• Medical and immune-related considerations associated with PANS/PANDAS
• Evidence-informed treatment approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
• Coordinated care and support strategies for children, teens, and their families
• Resources for navigating diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care
