- 3mm Recycled String (Colour: Bisque) (see below for a detailed list on the lengths you’ll need to create the full wall hanging)
Hey guys! Last week I took you through how to create the centre pattern included in this wall hanging. Today we will finish off the rest of this wall hanging. Let’s get started!

Full Wall Hanging Materials:
- 2 ft piece of driftwood
- 493.5 ft of 3mm string (colour: bisque), 10.5 ft of 7mm string (colour: natural)*
*If you don’t have 7mm string and want to replace that with 3mm string you’ll need 4 pieces of string per tassel (42 ft)
Centre Pattern
- one 9.5-ft piece of 3mm string
- sixteen 6.5-ft pieces of 3mm string
Remaining sections
- twelve 14-ft pieces of 3mm string
- thirty-four 32-inch pieces of 3mm string
- fifty-two 28-inch pieces of 3mm string
- tassels: nine 14-inch pieces of 7mm string OR thirty-six 14-inch pieces of 3mm string (4 pieces per tassel)
Cut 12 pieces of string, each piece is 14 ft long. Set 6 pieces aside for now. Fold 6 pieces in half and attach 3 to the left side of your work and 3 to the right.
Start by tying a double half hitch knot (DHHK) with the two middle cords. I’ve already tied one here to connect the bottom of the last diamond which is also the top of the next diamond. Using the inside right cord as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working down and to the right. Using the inside left cord as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working down and to the left. Tie a SK with the 4 inside cords. Using the cord on the left as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working down and to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. Tie one more DHHK with the two middle cords to connect the two sides.
Create another diamond using the same method as the first except this time we will create a berry knot (BK) in the middle of the diamond instead of a SK.
Tie 3 more diamonds, 7 diamonds total. Repeat on the right side of your work.
Tie 3 DHHKs. Repeat on the left side of your work. Create a BK in the middle of the diamond with the 6 cords (tie your working cords around 4 filler cords).
Tie 3 DHHKs on the left and right to create the bottom section of the diamond. Tie one more DHHK with the two middle cords to connect the two sides.
Attach the last six 14 ft cords to your piece of driftwood - 3 on the right and 3 on the left. Fold each piece in half and attach using a Lark’s Head Knot two inches out from the previous layer.
Tie a DHHK with the two middle cords. Tie 2 more DHHKs moving to the right. Repeat on the left side of your work. Use the same filler cords and tie 2 more DHHKs on both sides of your work.
Add one 14-inch piece of 7mm string or four 14-inch pieces of 3mm string. Bring the two ends through the bottom of the diamond. Tie one more DHHK to connect the diamond at the bottom.
Once you add your tassels brush and cut them. Tie one more row of 2 DHHKs on the left and right sides of your work underneath the diamond. Tie one more DHHK with the two middle cords to connect the two sides.
Use the inside right cord as your filler cord and tie 2 DHHKs working to the right. Repeat on the left side of your work. Tie a SK in the middle of your work. Complete the bottom half of the diamond by tying two more DHHKS on the right and lefts sides and then one more DHHK to connect the diamond at the bottom of your work.
Tie another row of double half hitch knots underneath the diamond (2 on one side and 2 on the other). Tie one more DHHK in the middle of your work to connect the sides.
Tie another row of DHHKs but this time skip the first cord on the left and right sides and tie a DHHK using the next cord as your filler cord. Tie one more DHHK in the middle of your work to connect the sides.
Tie 5 more diamonds (7 total) alternating between the tassel diamond and the square knot diamond. Repeat on the right side of your work.
Bring the two sides together in the middle of your work and tie a DHHK. Tie 3 DHHKs on the right and left then repeat to create the bottom section of the diamond. Tie one more DHHK with the two middle cords.. Add a tassel inside the diamond using the last piece of 7mm string.
Brush out and trim the bottom of the tassel as you did with the other tassels.
Cut and attach the remaining cords as per the instruction in the video.
Trim the ends and then brush them out and you’re all set!
