Hey guys! I have a quick tutorial for you today that will show you three easy alternating half hitch variations. These are great methods to use to add some colour and lines to your work. Let’s get started.
Cut two pieces of 4mm rope in the colour moonlight and one piece of 4mm rope in the colour terracotta, each piece is 6 ft long. Set one of the moonlight cord aside for now. Attach the other to your dowel using a Lark’s Head knot. Slip the terracotta piece through the knot like I’ve done here.
I went ahead and tied the first two knots here to show you what it will look like. Here’s how to do it - bring the moonlight cord on the right behind and around the two cords on the left to tie the first alternating half hitch. Bring the moonlight cord on the left behind and around the two cords on the right to tie the second alternating half hitch. Repeat this process until you’ve reached your desired length.
Attach the second moonlight cord to your dowel using a Lark’s head knot and thread the terracotta cord through the knot as I’ve done here. Bring the two moonlight cords on the right behind and around the 3 cords on the left. Repeat on the other side of your work.
To tie the third variation, bring the moonlight cord on the right behind and around 4 cords on the left. Repeat on the right side of your work.
